First and foremost, thank you for being a voice for the voiceless! All it takes is one person to make a difference.
The following information will give you a good idea as to whether or not Wag Again Rescue would be a good option for you to seek help from. Keep in mind, that just because WAR might not be a good fit, doesn't mean that other rescues can't help. There are a TON of amazing rescues in the Houston area.
Please read carefully before emailing, as we aren’t able to bring pups into our rescue without a foster and eyes on evaluation from one of our volunteers.
**Unfortunately, we are unable to bring in dog or human aggressive dogs.**
Need help with a stray?
You should try to locate the rightful owners for at least two weeks and take the animal for a free microchip scan at any shelter or vet. We will need proof that this has been done. If you can get the dog scanned at more than one vet, that would be ideal, as sometimes vet do miss the chip and we want to make every attempt to get the dog home.
If the pup you found has not been claimed after two weeks of posting on various dog lost and found sites and you can foster or have found a foster these are the steps you need to take.
If you can foster or have found a foster for the dog, the first step would be to email us and let us know! Our email is info@wagagain.dog. Once you have talked to us via email, then the next step would be to fill out a Foster Application.
Keep the following in mind:
- We are not a two-week turnaround rescue and do not do local adoptions or rescue transfers. All of our dogs are adopted outside of Texas to furever homes
- Our fosters generally have the pups for an average of 6 weeks, unless there are medical issues or behavioral issues, which can lend to longer fostering periods.
- We will cover all vetting, food, supplies, and anything else the dog might need.
- If you can take the dog to its veterinary appointments, that would be amazing. However, we understand that everyone has lives and we will work with you to arrange for pick up, if someone is available.
In summary:
-You can foster of have found a foster for the dog until it gets adopted in the PNW, keep in mind the average foster time of 6 weeks.
-You are willing to drive the dog to one of our veterinary partners for spay/neuter or other necessary veterinary medical. As mentioned before, we understand life, so we will work with you to get pups to appointments.
-The dog must be in a foster home, as we cannot and will not place dogs in boarding and don’t have a facility to house them.
1. All dogs will have, provided by the rescue
a. Two DHPP vaccines given a minimum of 14 days apart (three DHPP vaccines for puppies)
b. 1 Bordetella vaccine
c. 1 Rabies vaccine (12 weeks & older)
d. Deworming
e. Puppies will not leave prior to 12 weeks of age
2. All dogs must have a negative heartworm test result from the last 30 days, if going to a state that requires it.
3. All dogs must be spayed or neutered prior to departure.
4. You will be signing over ownership to the dog to Wag Again Rescue. We reserve the right to remove the dog from your possession at any time if we feel that the dog is in danger.
We understand that fostering a pup can be taxing, so, sit back, relax, and allow us to handle the heavy lifting!
Need help with your dog?
First, why are you trying to rehome your pup? As a rescue, we seek to find solutions, not just take the dog off your hands.
If it’s a behavioral issue, what is the issue? We can recommend a couple local trainers who do obedience training and behavior modification.
Injured or medical reason and can’t afford the ridiculous prices of Houston area veterinary care? We can recommend an amazing vet who charges very reasonable prices. We might also be able to help trouble shoot the problem without you even having to surrender your pup or take them to the vet!
If you’ve exhausted all options, we might be able to help. However, you would need to foster or need to find a foster to take over care of your pup until the dog can be adopted.
However, keep in mind, we cannot accept human or dog aggressive dogs into the rescue.
With that being said…
If you can foster or have found a foster for the dog, the first step would be to email us and let us know. Our email is info@wagagain.dog.
Once you have talked to us via email, then the next step would be to fill out a Foster Application. Then, once a volunteer has been out to evaluate your dog and you have emailed us all of its medical records; we will have you fill out an Owner Surrender Form.
Keep in mind that we are not a two-week turnaround rescue. Our fosters generally have the pups for an average of 6 weeks, unless there are medical issues or small behavioral issues, which can lend to longer fostering periods. We do not do local adoptions or rescue transfers, every dog that leaves Houston has a family waiting for them on the other end.
We will cover all vetting, food, supplies, and anything else the dog might need. If you can take the dog to its veterinary appointments, that would be amazing. However, we understand that everyone has lives and we will work with you to arrange for pick up, if someone is available.
For this arrangement to work, these requirements must be met:
-You can foster of have found a foster for the dog until it gets adopted in the PNW.
The fine print…

a. Two DHPP vaccines given a minimum of 14 days apart (three DHPP vaccines for puppies)
b. 1 Bordetella vaccine
c. 1 Rabies vaccine (12 weeks & older)

3. All dogs must be spayed or neutered prior to departure.
4. You will be signing over ownership to this animal to Wag Again Rescue, but continuing to foster. We reserve the right to remove the dog from your possession at any time if we feel that the dog is in danger.
We understand that fostering a pup can be taxing, so, sit back, relax, and allow us to handle the heavy lifting!
